Hey lads,

I am wondering what you guys are doing either by habits, nutrition but also towards pharmacology in terms of your insulin sensitivity!

Personally I do carb cycling and use high and low carb days

For supplements I use mainly
Omega 3
Cinnamon and chromium
Selectively berberine
ALA
Carnitine combination of tartrate and alcar 3gr and 2gr for different reasons

My training is mainly heavy duty influenced and I do each time a hit of 20seconds on 1 minute active rest on assault bike as my cardio for 2-3 rounds with maximum intensity.

What has worked for you?

Since i train at night i try to have my insulin peak after my workout because insulin is anti-catabolic, and for muscle gain is basically what you want. For breakfast i try to eat 0 carbs, only meat and eggs, then at lunch i start to introduce carbs with veggies, so that the fiber in the veggies slows the digestion of those carbs. then pre workout i have like 25g of maltodextrin and after training where i want to have my insulin peak i take 80g of dextrose or malto and 15g of eaa. Basically i try to do a "intermittent fasting" of carbs. In terms of pharmacology, as you said berberine and also metformin are good ways to control your glucose levels, also GLP-1 agonist and of course exogenous insulin. but most of these if not all should only probably be used by people that are big, eating a lot and taking high dosages of hgh (hgh is hyperglycemic).

Using carbs a bit more. Around training and not generally was something I wanted to try more. I'll try to do something similar. +1 on berberine and metformin. That's why I also said selectively berberine. I don't think it fits any situation just because we need to have insulin sensitivity. It's a good tool for the right environment

you dont need to really cut out carbs in the period you are not training. but the general idea for controling blood glucose and consequently your insulin sensitivity is to control the glycemic index of your foods. Also if you are already resistant to insulin that post workout shake will probably make things worse, you are probably better with just fruit and whey. The other idea is that fiber and fat slow down your digestion and subsquently will lower your insulin peak.
